Hors-champ is an invitation to discover the unfamiliar places where photographic images are made. Clearly photography is following a new road, and its future seems to be digital. By revealing the sites in which the traditional practice of photography evolved, my intention is to questioned the medium's very future. Do photographers' studios have a future? What will remain tomorrow of accessories and scenery? What is left today of the darkroom? Will its use in future be limited to amateurs? Will the producers of papers, films, chemicals disappear? Is the screen the new photographic laboratory? And how do the photographers themselves feel about this evolution?
